Our HistoryThe company was formed in 1991 by Chris Jackson. Chris had previously been working as a sub-contractor for Jerry Thompson, a man who specialized in the painting and fairing of performance sailing yachts, particularly yachts for the Americas Cup. Chris worked extensively for Jerry Thompson between 1986 and 1991 working on the Australian Kookaburra challenge, Italian Azurra and British challenge yachts in the 1986/87 Americas Cup in Fremantle, Australia. Following on from this Jerry, Chris and team then painted and faired all Raul Gardini’s Il Moro di Venezia maxi yachts, Gianni Agnelli’s prestigious yacht Extra Beat and also painted and re-painted many of the fleet of maxi sailing yachts of that time including Longobarder, Emaraude, Matador and Kialoa III, IV, V. Chris was also heavily involved in the fairing of the sailing yachts Taramber and Addix. With Jerry’s impending re-location to Australia and Chris’s desire to have greater control over his life direction, the decision was made to form a separate operation and Jacksons was born, trading at that time as Chris Jackson Yacht Fairing and Painting. The first major project undertaken was Norship’s M/Y Moonraker; this was set to become the fastest yacht of its class in the world. Over following the years the projects listed were completed.
